Course Information

The 50K and 30K runs start and finish at the Cerro Coso Community College, Ridgecrest. The course will be marked with chalk and ribbon.    Please be aware that you will be running through BLM land and should respect the rights of hikers, mountain bikers, cyclists, equestrians and other runners you might encounter.  If you must drop out of the race for any reason, you must go to the next aid station and notify someone at the aid station.

The 50k will be supported by nine aid stations, located about every 3 miles.  The locations are shown on the course maps, using the numbers or names listed below.  Note the course split at the first aid station (Hubcap).  The 30K continues straight, and the 50K course turns left! The two course rejoin between aid stations 5 and 6.  After the Gracie’s aid station, runners should watch for another course split, where the 30K turns to the right and heads back to the finish at the college.Aid stations will be stocked with water, electrolyte drink, cola, cookies, bananas, pretzels, Vaseline, and S-caps.  Drinks will also be provided at the finish.

Course Safety

We make every effort to mark the course clearly with chalk, flags, and signs.  However, the occasional runner will be so busy looking at the scenery that he or she will wander off course! If you haven't seen markings for a while, the best thing to do is to retrace your steps until you come upon the marked course again.  We attempt to keep track of all runners' progress by checking off your bib numbers as you pass each aid station.

Dropping Out

If you should decide to drop out of the race for any reason, we ask that you continue to the next aid station and inform the crew there that you are dropping, and let them know your plans for getting back to the college.  If you are unable to notify an aid station, it is mandatory that you notify the finish line crew that you have returned without crossing the finish line.  We want to account for all our runners before we go home!!
