OTHTC 2005 KO Half Marathon
Ridgecrest, CA
November 5, 2005
Twenty-six runners and walkers toed the line on for another Knock Out Half Marathon.  Anthony Barnes was overall winner and first male finisher in a time of 1:32:02. The first overall woman and second overall was Janet Kowalchick in a time of 1:32:43. Good job on the tough course with many challenging climbs. Thank you to race directors Eric Kajiwara and Joe Oliver, and thanks to all the volunteers.  It was a nice day but a little warm.  All had a good time I'm sure in this great training run for our up coming 50k/30k.  Even had a couple of out of town folks show up.  Emily from Riverside and Anita from Edwards AF Base.

Over the Hill Track Club Turkey Trot
Thanksgiving Day, 2005
Ridgecrest, CA
by Tom Rindt

Around 300 people showed up on a beautiful morning for the annual OTHTC Turkey Trot. The course is about 3-miles wandering through the desert around Cerro Coso Community College, which makes for a nice run or walk before stuffing our faces at the annual thanksgiving feast. It's also a great opportunity to see old friends. Every year we see people who have moved to other areas and are back visiting family or friends, and we enjoy catching up on what's up with them.

Race director Chris Rios gave everyone the details on the course, and we were off.

Runners and walkers of all ages showed up -- from the speedy runners and eventual winners to Grandma and the Grandkids.

tnIMG_1326.jpgtnIMG_1334.jpgJosh Hamilton was the overall winner of the rubber chicken in 16:47, and Jena Fie took home the other rubber chicken for first female, finishing in 21:11 .  Many t-shirts and other "valuable" stuff was given out from the OTHTC closet.  Plus two $20 gift certificates worth.
