Holcomb Valley 33Mile
Big Bear, California

Congratulations to three hearty souls who ventured out and ran the Holcomb Valley Ultra.  Eric Kajiwara had a great day running 6 hours and 30 some minutes.  He was feeling mighty fine, he told me.  Two young ladies did a fantastic job of starting and finishing without much of what you would call ultra-marathon training.  Congratulations to Debbie Brown and Carol Wolfe.  Debbie Brown has run a couple of marathons but doesn't train much longer than four miles--mostly walking.  She finished in 8 hours and a few minutes.  Great job, Debbie.  Carol Wolfe, who has run many marathons and some ultras but doesn't get to do much in the way of long training runs, also finished in 8 hours and a few minutes.  I had a decent day and finished in 8 hours and about 20 minutes.
We had beautiful weather, great aid stations, and a well-marked course.  We received a top-quality Patagonia T-shirt and a finisher's medal.  Eric and I won a polo shirt with the race logo in the raffle.  You guys and gals missed a good one.
