On Saturday, Aug. 14th, four Ridgecrest people participated in the annual Tehachapi Mountain Festival Race. These 5K and 10K races are always fun, usually being fairly cool and in a nice location. Kathy Martin, John Schillings, & Mike and Jerry Mumford participated in the 5K and 10K races.

In the 10K, John Schillings took second place in his 40-49 age group, and was in about fifth or sixth place overall. Mike Mumford took first place in the 50-59 age group, a few places behind John (but out of sight!). In the 5K, Kathy Martin continued her recovery, running well. And, Jerry Mumford showed that she is recovering from her foot surgeries, walking the racecourse. As expected, it was a pretty, cool day. The field was (at a guess) about 150 runners, with the race benefiting the scholarship program of the Bakersfield AAUW.
