GREETINGS
from Chris Rios, President

Howdy, friends. I hope your running is going well, and will continue through the coming months. We are here to enjoy running, help and encourage new runners and those who have been at it a while, and generally promote running in our community with informal group runs and scheduled race events. Don't hesitate to contact any of the veteran members to find out about our weekend runs, and don't forget about our club meetings the first Wednesday of every month at 6:00 at the Santa Fe Grill or Casa Corona. Check the schedule for this month's location. Also, remember our once a month cleaning up of College Heights Blvd.

We something for everybody at our usual annual events.  All of you dog lovers can  look forward to seeing lots of dogs at Me & My Dawg 5K Run/Walk in February.  March brings the Los Angeles Marathon and the Coyote Chase 2-miler.

In April some of us will run 50 miles alongside the American River in Sacramento.  Plus, I'm sure some silly runner will run the Leona Divide 50-miler the next week.  For those wanting a fun but good workout, we will be there with the Radamacher Ridge Run 10 miler again.  Then, in May is one of oldest continuous OTHTC event - the Inyokern 10 Run/Walk.  The Wild Wild West Marathon and 10-miler in Lone Pine takes place the next day.  A few in the club will run the Mi-Wok 100K that same weekend up North. If we are not too wiped out, we can all run in the Bishop High Sierra 50-miler, 50K, or 30K later in the month or the Holcomb 50K or the Shadow of the Giants 50K in early June.

Let's not forget that the OTHTC summer events will bring us out to run or walk early in the morning before it gets too hot, and then have breakfast.  The monthly 3-mile breakfast runs are a lot of fun and very social.

Late in the summer, maybe some of you will run the Pikes Peak Marathon or the Mt. Baldy Peaks 50K. As September rolls around, the Club starts its fall race schedule with the All Women's 5K Run/Walk, and several club members will probably run the Angeles Crest 100-miler. Some more fun is available at the 24-Hour Relay for Life, where the OTHTC always enters some teams.  November Club events include the KO Half-Marathon and our "world famous" Turkey Trot. December features our highly anticipated Ultra 50K & 30K with the year ending with a fun time at the Jingle Jog and pot luck Christmas party.  Of course, there will be a sprinkle of 5Ks, 10Ks, half-marathons, and marathons that will be available for all of you to enjoy out of town.

I want to thank all of the race directors and volunteers who make our Club events possible.  You guys and gals are great.  Let's keep running and walking. See you on the trails.
